To the left of that is the volume indicator. The iMic doesn't allow that, so it is disabled and grayed out. The vertical slider on the right side sets the input gain level, with many sound devices you can adjust this to vary the input level. We'll worry about changing that later, when dealing with sound output to your radio. I have it set to use the iMac for sound input,Īnd Built-In Output for the output, which mean's the Mac's speaker. The two popup menus in the lower left corner of that image are used to set the sound input source, as well as the sound output source. In the upper left corner of the window, you'll see various controls that deal with sound input: Unfortunately, Some Macs, including many recent models, don't have a sound input jack! Not to worry, you can use a USB sound device, like the Griffin iMic, or similar. You don't want to damage your Mac's sound input. In all cases, double check the output level from your radio first, to make sure the levels are not too high. You can also use the headphone jack from your In many cases, this can be done as easily as connecting a 1/8" audio cable from your radio's line level output to the sound input jack on your Mac. In order to receive (decode) the various digital modes, you need to feed sound from your radio into your Mac. If you haven't already, you should download a copy. It runs on macOS versions from 10.6.8 right through Sierra 10.12. MultiMode Cocoa is an app for macOS (Mac OS X) that lets you receive and send various amateur radio modes, such as CW (morse code), PSK31, SSTV, RTTY, FAX, and more. As for whether to choose a single mode fiber or multimode fiber, the applications that you need, transmission distance to be covered as well as the overall budget should be taken into consideration. The Basics - What You Need - Connecting Your Mac To Your Radio In general, multimode fiber cable continues to be the most cost-effective choice for enterprise and data center applications with 500-600 meter range. Last but not the least, MMF and components are cost effective and are easier to work with other optical components like fiber adapter and various fiber connectors, and multimode patch cords are less expensive to operate, install and maintain. Therefore, multimode fiber generally is utilized for backbone applications in buildings. Besides, the total power inside the signals carries almost no loss. Multimode fiber carries multiple signals concurrently in the same line.Multimode fiber can support multiple data transfer protocol, including Ethernet, Infiniband, and Internet protocols.Other typical transmission and distance limits are 2km at the speed of 100Mb/s and 1km at 100Mb/s.Īlthough multimode fiber has distance limits, it still has many significant advantages. The maximum transmission distance for MMF cable is around 550m at 10Git/s. However, the modes tend to disperse over longer lengths that the transmission distance of MMF is limited. Multimode fiber optic cable has a larger core, typically 50 or 62.5 microns that enables multiple light rays or modes to be propagated simultaneously. Multimode fiber (MMF) is a kind of optical fiber commonly used in communication for relatively short distances, for instance, inside buildings or corporate campuses. However, how much do you know about multimode fiber? Let’s have an overview of multimode fiber in this article. Between them, multimode fiber is commonly used for shorter distance data transmission in LAN enterprise and data center applications. Both of them are available for higher bandwidth and faster speed connections. In fiber optic cable market, the demand for single mode fiber and multimode fiber optic cable are increasing rapidly. "What we aim to deliver to players is an experience that goes vastly beyond that of the original Frostpunk. Frostpunk 2 release date and platforms Frostpunk 2 is in the early stages of development. The scope and scale of Frostpunk 2 are much bigger than the original, but devs explain that their goal is not just to add more of the same or bloat the game with chores, but rather to expand on the already existing mechanics and to add meaningful new features. Read more: Metal Slug Tactics: Release date, gameplay details, story, and more."What players should expect is a wide universe of choices, the freedom to shape the society and the city however they see fit - and reap the consequences," says Jakub Stokalski, Frostpunk 2 co-director. We currently don't have a lot of details about the gameplay, as the game is still in development, but developers explain that they want to make the game that is more than "just a straight-up sequel." Making sure that everyone's demands and wishes have been fulfilled while balancing between various factions and the constant menace of neverending frost will be your main task in Frostpunk 2. The three core aspects of the game's story (and, to an extent, of gameplay) are three conflicts: survival vs human values, life vs the arctic frost, and "the conflict between humans and their nature." Frostpunk 2 gameplay and features Various factions will fight for influence and power. (Picture: 11 bit studios)Ĭurrently, we don't know much about this new age of oil, new factions, and how all of that has affected society, as developers are being rather tight-lipped about it, but one glimpse at the announcement trailer is enough to show that things are pretty dystopian. "However, change does not come easily, and not everyone in this new multi-layered society will welcome this new direction." The awful death of the fellow from the trailer paints a grim picture. "After the age of coal, conquering Frostland for the oil extraction industry is expected to be the new salvation of what’s left of humanity," says the announcement. Instead of coal and steam machines, which were the main driving forces behind your settlements in the first game, in Frostpunk 2 it's all about oil, a shiny new resource that is now the main source of energy in the game. People are still living in a frozen wasteland and things are not getting better anytime soon, but society has adapted and learned how to use new resources in order to bolster their chances for survival. Yet, New London has survived and even made some progress. Frostpunk 2 story and setting In Frostpunk 2, oil has replaced coal. Here's what we currently know about the sequel. Or otherwise, one small crack in a carefully build society can make the whole city ruined. Just like in the first game, as the leader, you will not only manage resources and build a city, you will also need to understand human nature and make sure that everyone in the city is in a good condition, both physically and mentally. In this ice and snow-covered world, resources are scarce, but the biggest threat to humanity is not cold or nature, rather other humans. Frostpunk 2 will see players once again taking the role of the leader of a resource-hungry metropolis after a catastrophic climate change, which has left the whole planet frozen in the perpetual arctic cold. Lume’s Sweet Lily Deodorant is a whole-body deodorant stick that’s suitable for not only your pits but your feet and privates, too. How? The brand accomplishes this by removing the bacteria that causes odor upon contact with sweat, using ingredients like aloe leaf juice, a known natural antibacterial agent. This intrigued Barrie Drewitt, who currently oversees Princeton Consumer Research and has been aptly nicknamed the “Odor Guru.” Drewitt was blown away by Lume deodorant and its ability to successfully minimize and eliminate body odor. After 10 years of research and mixing up concoctions, Lume was finally born.Īfter its initial release, Lume has proven to succeed in making those who use it feel more confident. Shannon’s goal was to develop deodorant featuring only natural and quality ingredients, with the versatility to be used anywhere on the body. If you’re thinking what she came up with some aluminum, toxic mix, I’m happy to say it’s anything but. Shannon started producing deodorant on her own time, in her own kitchen, to create a solution that would help her patients and clients. During her residency, she met many men and women who lacked self-confidence because of a personal struggle with body odor, and not just from their underarms. Lume was founded by Shannon Klingman, a resident working towards becoming an OB/GYN. But, a natural product, like those that Lume offers, could help ease these fears. Results like this are pretty scary since most people use deodorant on a daily basis. One study showed that increased deodorant use was associated with an earlier age of breast cancer diagnosis. Many have been gravitating towards more natural deodorants and antiperspirants as research has shown ingredients in their toxic alternatives to be associated with certain illnesses, such as breast cancer. Why their products stand out: they’re not only intended for the underarms, and can be used effectively on any external part of your body. Lume is an innovator in the natural deodorant space with its line of vegan, aluminum-free, cruelty-free, and baking soda-free deodorants. Whether it’s sweat rings or BO, both are a constant fear I think we can all relate to. The time of the day you worry your deodorant has worn off and you’ve officially become the smelly one in the office. One of them is the Sonny series, games that had their humble start as flash games. Many of these games have gone on to become proper games down the line. Some of these games boast great graphics (for the time), solid gameplay, and surprisingly great stories. There were other flash games that instead tried to emulate triple-A games with a tiny fraction of the budget. Boxhead looks like a more violent bird eye's view version of Minecraft, where you can put down fortifications and defended yourself with. Flash games tended to have tiny teams, after all, and gaming was only just becoming popular. Of course, they couldn't make quality games like we would find today. This simplicity is at the heart of what made Flash games special. If that sounds fun, you should definitely give it a shot with this Bubble Trouble download. This game also has a two-player mode where you and a friend both take control of a side of the keyboard to play together. You repeat this over and over to rack up the most amount of points possible. The gameplay is also incredibly simple, with you simply running left and right to avoid bouncing balls and pressing space to shoot them as they pass over you. The main menu is incredibly basic, with nothing but the most basic essentials there. The intro itself has the creator himself singing a tune to a charmingly static image of the main character. That's not to say that Dreamworks has never come close to PIXAR in terms of quality: the first two Shrek films are great entertainment, with the former being on a par with Monsters, Inc. But PIXAR's output is not only more consistent, but has a better idea of what a proper children's film should be: while Shark Tale has a multitude of adult jokes which will go over youngsters' heads, designed solely to keep the paying parents awake, Finding Nemo pitches its story and characters at the same level for everyone, treating children as intelligent and the film as a family event. Both companies deserve credit for pushing the visual envelope with their character designs and for helping to usher in an age in which animated films can be taken seriously in the western world. The story has its problems and its lulls, but it's a surprisingly brisk and funny watch even all these years later.Īs a general rule, I have always preferred PIXAR's output to that of Dreamworks. The way bugs use things for their tools and survive their world is just fun to watch. The movie's world is also just damn creative. Our villain Hopper actually doesn't even get that much screen-time, but he commands a presence, and his seed monologue is so good it's earned its resurgence in modern protests. All the characters are unique and memorable from the moment they're put on screen, and you really want to spend time with them. Sure there's a bit of a sophomore slump after the gamechanger that was Toy Story, and I loathe the liar revealed trope that this movie takes too much time with, but it wins with its creativity and characters. Watching it again, it surprisingly holds up really well. I liked it well enough as a kid, but I always looked back on it as one of the "bad" Pixar movies (even though I will maintain a bad Pixar movie is still an overall good movie). For a long time I considered A Bugs Life one of the lesser Pixar movies. It’ll be easier to get texture or some volume if this is what you want. You’ve got flexibility and versatility when it comes to styling. The benefits of the 25mm haircut are similar to those of the 21mm haircut. This is generally the longest clipper guard length you can get for most major clipper brands, except for Wahl which does go up to 38mm.Ģ5mm amounts to 1 inch in length a nice round number that a lot of men are drawn toward. To trim a 25mm (1-inch) haircut length you’ll need to use a number 8 clipper guard. As the hair on top would be longer, trimming the sides down shorter (with or without fades/tapers) would lead to a more striking contrast. When you’ve got more length like this, you can also have more fun with the sides and back. Stick to matte or low shine clays and pastes as heavier, shinier products such as pomades and gels may reveal too much of the scalp. You could even try experimenting with faux hawks to see if the texture of your hair would allow for it.Īt 21mm, you can have more fun with styling products as you’d be able to make better use of them. You’ll be able to style a short quiff a little easier – there’s just more of it to work with. Although it’s only a few millimeters longer than the 18mm cut, you do have a wide range of styles to choose from. It’ll trim down to ⅞ inch which although more accurately amounts to around 22mm, at this length, that 1mm difference isn’t noticeable.Ģ1mm’s worth of hair does give you more options. This clipper guard is available for most major clipper brands except BabylissPro which ends at a #6. To trim a 21mm haircut length you’ll need to use a number 7 clipper guard. It’ll simply look like a neat and tidy men’s haircut. It won’t immediately come across as looking buzzed. The beauty of it is that you’ll still be able to keep it looking sharp and sleek with very little effort. Unlike the number 2 or number 3, it’s short but not so short that you’ll be able to see the scalp. Tapers and fades will always be an option. If you want to make an 18mm haircut a little more interesting, change up the sides and back. Try working some clay in and see what you’re able to do with it. Nothing fancy – but potentially a very short quiff. It’s still very short, but it may just be long enough to style. This is true for all major clipper brands including Wahl, Andis, Oster, Babyliss, and Remington.Īlthough it more accurately amounts to ¾ inch or 19mm, at this length, one millimeter longer or shorter is not going to be a visible or noticeable difference.Īs you can see, it does carry some benefits. To trim an 18mm haircut length you’ll need to use a number 6 clipper grade. No more confusion – straight to the point. You’ll also learn what clipper grade number you’ll need in order to trim it. Actually grabbing for that clipper and running it over your luscious locks can be a daunting process.Īt least you’ll know what to expect before you do it. Knowing what they look like should take some of the guesswork out of it. You’ll see what three popular haircut lengths actually look like specifically the 18mm, 21mm, and 25mm haircuts. But in an age of DIY trims men are out looking for the answers. Clipper numbers were previously almost a “code” used by barbers and stylists. Let’s just say – they don’t make it easy.
